Help with your Talentack profile, briefs and account

Whether you are filling in a profile for the first time, updating an availability window, or trying to work out how a recruiter's brief reaches you, this is where to start. The pages below cover the parts people ask about most, from skill tags and portfolio strips to references and work setup.

Questions people ask before they send a brief

Short answers to the things that come up most often. If your situation is not covered here, the contact page is the fastest route.

Who can publish a profile on Talentack?

Candidates, freelancers and small studios. A profile works best when you can name a role focus, the tools you actually open during a working week, and a handful of projects you finished. Students and career changers are welcome too, as long as the summary is honest about where you are.

How do recruiters find me?

Hiring managers browse by skill cluster, seniority band and work setup. That means your tags and availability window do most of the filtering. A profile with vague tool names tends to sit unread, while one that lists specific software and a clear time zone gets opened.

What is a direct brief, exactly?

A short message from a recruiter or studio lead describing the work, the timeline and the setup. It arrives against your profile instead of landing in a general inbox. You decide whether to reply. Nothing is shared with your current employer.

How often should I update my availability?

Whenever it changes. A stale window is the most common reason a good profile gets skipped. If you are booked for the next six weeks, say so. Recruiters in Johannesburg and Cape Town plan ahead and will come back to a profile that reads accurately.

Can I keep my references private?

Yes. You list who can speak to your work, but their details are only released once a brief moves to a serious stage and you agree. Three well-briefed referees carry more weight than a long list of names.

Something is not working. Where do I go?

Start with the help pages for profile and brief basics. For account issues, missing briefs or anything that looks like a bug, reach us through contact and include the email on your profile so we can find you quickly.

Where to go when something on your profile is not working

Most help requests we get are not complicated. A skill tag will not save, a brief arrives with the wrong work setup attached, or a reference has gone quiet after a long project. Pick the route below that matches what you are actually stuck on, and you will usually get an answer the same working day.

Profile and portfolio edits

Role focus, tool lists, portfolio strip uploads and the summary you wrote yourself. If a section will not update or a project history entry looks wrong after saving, send the profile link and the field name.

Typical reply: within 4 working hours

Briefs and availability

Questions about a brief you received, availability windows that no longer match your week, or a work setup that changed from hybrid to fully remote. Recruiters and freelancers both use this route.

Typical reply: within 1 working day

References and account access

Referee details that need refreshing, a reference who asked to be removed, or trouble signing back in after a break. Include the email on the profile so we can find the right record.

Typical reply: within 2 working days
